The TORCH Suite can best be described as classical sensibilities for the groove-craving soul.

Bonus points if you can pick out a nod to "Jesu, Meine Freude" in NEBBIA. This particular gesture from Bach's motet never ceases to move me and I felt compelled to include it with my own spin to pay homage to one of the greats.

The TORCH Suite was composed in 2015 for a new music ensemble (TORCH) based out of Seattle, WA during Caleb's graduate studies. At the time, the group consisted of Clarinet, Trumpet, Vibes, and Bass. They specialized in hybrid music that straddled the lines of rock, jazz, and classical traditions.

The group's name is a nod to a quote from Thomas Mann's "Gladius Dei": "Art is the sacred torch that must shed its merciful light into all life’s terrible depths."
